THE FOUNDERS’ PORTFOLIO · COMMUNICATION FOR A CAUSE

Centrul FILIA

We are all responsible. Let’s stop gender-based violence.

The way we respond when someone tells us they are being abused matters. One reaction can close the conversation. Another can open the way to support.

For the FILIA Center, Colorbitor and Glitch Shop built a campaign that puts the people around a situation of violence in the foreground: what they see, what they say and what they choose to do.

We present this project as part of the experience of Susțin’s founders, delivered through Colorbitor, together with Glitch Shop, within VioGen–RoJust.

THE CONTEXT

What happens around the abuse

A friend can take a story seriously or play it down. A colleague can notice humiliating treatment or justify it. An institution can listen to a person asking for help or discourage them.

The campaign follows these reactions and the stereotypes that shape them. Responsibility for abuse belongs to the abuser. The people around also have a part in whether abuse is recognised and the person affected is supported.

THE CAMPAIGN MESSAGE

We are all responsible.
Let’s stop gender-based violence.

THE CONSTELLATION OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Three situations. Perspectives that connect to one another.

The platform “The Constellation of Gender-Based Violence” gathers 20 videos around three scenarios. The visitor follows the characters and discovers how the same situation is explained, excused or understood differently by those involved.

Maria

Psychological violence in a relationship

After an episode of jealousy and intimidation, Maria looks for support. The story follows the reactions of her family, the people close to her, her colleagues and the police.

Dana

Psychological violence at work

Dana faces humiliation and unfair treatment in a professional environment. The perspectives of her manager, her colleagues and those around show how easily abusive behaviour can be normalised.

Tania

Harassment and sexual violence

A night out at a club turns into harassment. Tania’s story examines the disregard for personal boundaries and the way her friends, her family and the club staff react.

Follow the storyline

Each storyline can be explored separately, at the visitor’s own pace, on FILIA’s original platform. The character compositions are campaign materials; the people in them are not presented as identified survivors.

FROM FILM TO THE STREET

Each poster speaks to someone in particular

The campaign message continues in posters addressed to specific roles: parents, journalists, police officers, judges, or people in positions of authority at work. Each visual questions a reaction through which abuse can be excused or overlooked.

The language is direct, and the visual form starts from familiar contexts: a lined notebook page, a conversation on a phone, a dressing-room mirror. In the Colorbitor portfolio, the series can be seen in mock-ups for billboards and street furniture. FILIA records the outdoor campaign running in four major Romanian cities.

These figures describe the materials and the campaign’s roll-out. The creative point is the link between them: a message encountered in public invites a closer exploration of reactions and prejudices, on the online platform.

THE CREATIVE CONTRIBUTION

Who did what

Colorbitor, in partnership with Glitch Shop, developed the message and the creative materials, the media strategy and its implementation. The FILIA Center coordinated the awareness campaign.

Susțin’s founders

A project presented in the founders’ portfolio, delivered through Colorbitor. We do not attribute direction, production or copywriting to individuals.

For the Susțin portfolio, the project illustrates a direction we want to carry forward: communication built together with organisations that know the problem on the ground and can give it content, meaning and continuity.

CREDITS

A campaign within a wider project

The campaign is part of VioGen–RoJust, a project promoted by the National Agency for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, together with the FILIA Center, the TRANSCENA Association, the ANAIS Association and the GRADO Association.

VioGen–RoJust was supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants, within the Local Development Programme administered by the Romanian Social Development Fund.

Do you have a cause that needs a stronger voice?

At Susțin, we are interested in projects where film, design and technology help people understand a problem and get involved. If you represent an organisation or a company and want to build a campaign with meaning, let’s talk.
